Charles Thomas Martin III

Charlie III was born at 1:01PM on the 30th of June, 2011.  He was 21 inches long and 8 lbs 8 oz.  He was such a big boy.  Charlie has had quite an amazing life so far.  After birth he went to the NICU because he wasn't breathing too well.  They had him on some type of breathing machine which didn't really help.  They eventually took x-rays of his lungs and saw that he had a huge air bubble on the outside of his lungs that was crushing one lung and his heart.  They had to remove the air twice.  After that the air didn't come back, but his oxygen level and heart weren't doing that great.  Sunday morning when we went in to see him and to drop off some breast milk for him and they were doing an ultrasound on him.  After going home we got a phone call telling us that Charlie needed to go to Primary Childrens' CICU for heart surgery.  After getting there we learned that he had a coarctation of the aorta.  So at the moment Charlie is in surgery and we will learn more soon.  Thank you for all of your prayers.
