A Not-so-scary Halloween

This Halloween was possibly the least Halloween-y of our lives.  The reasons why are listed below:

  1. Just look at our pumpkins. "Thankful", "Y", and a cow/pig cutout for Charlie's little pumpkin.  Not scary things.  We believe Halloween doesn't need to be scary or sexy like the rest of the world.  It would be inappropriate to carve scary things into a pumpkin--things like a "U".
  2. We forgot to buy candy  (Annette's note - I didn't forget, I didn't want to spend the money on it).  So, instead of handing out candy and contributing to America's obesity problem, we turned off all of our lights and went down to the basement to finish painting the walls.  Only the ceiling and baseboards remain to be painted!
  3. No real costumes.  Annette made some cute costumes for us a few years ago where I was a PC and she was a Mac, but we hate to spend too much money on our least favorite holiday.
  4. No trick-or-treating.  Since we didn't do costumes for the boys, we didn't take them trick-or-treating.  Besides, they don't know what they're missing out on, so let's just have one more year of peace and one less year of sugar buzzes.
I, Annette, took some photos with the boys on the morning of the 31st.  I tried to get the boys to sit and smile at me, but it was either Charlie smiling or Charlie looking at Henry smiling.  This will do.

Charlie loves fire.  Here he is blowing out the fire in Daddy's pumpkin.
Henry looking out the window and playing peek-a-boo in the curtains.  And yes, it is really that dark in the morning.
I thought it would be fun to take photos with the boys.  Henry wasn't too interested.  Me without make-up was probably the scariest thing on Halloween for us.
Charlie joined in and Henry became very done with the idea of photos.

Way to hide in the basement. You could have been bettering the world by handing out nicotine patches and literature on obesity.
